Dubai Safari Park

  • Dubai Safari Park

Dubai Safari Park, one of the most anticipated projects of the United Arab Emirates, was implemented by the Municipality of Dubai and was opened on December 12, 2017.

This is colossal research, educational, and conservation project. The main tasks of DSP are protecting and learning about animals, birds, reptiles, and other fauna from around the world. The love for our younger brothers and sisters has always been inherent in the UAE. No wonder the main symbols of the country are the camel, falcon, and horse. The fauna of the Arabian Peninsula is not so rich, and the principal asset is the Arabian leopard preserved in the Hajar Mountains.

Therefore, opening a new wildlife corner is a truly good occasion for the whole region.

The safari park was created 4.5 years in the Al Warqa area opposite the famous Dragon Mart shopping center on 119 hectares. The project cost is 1 billion dirhams (272 million US dollars). The most modern “smart” and ecological technologies were used in the construction, and the idea inspired the zoos of Singapore and Thailand.

However, in May 2018, the complex was closed for visiting to create a more favorable infrastructure and the maximum adaptation of pets for a comfortable stay. These measures allowed the creation of a full-fledged ecosystem with representatives of the animal world and vegetation.

As a result, Dubai Safari Park resumes its work on October 5, 2020, and becomes a unique place that cares for our younger brothers for all visitors. All DSP inhabitants live in conditions similar to the natural habitat.

The complex consists of four main parts: the Arab, African, and Asian villages, and the open Village of Explorers with about 3,000 animals of more than 250 species around the globe. Among the rare species of the park, you can see the Komodo dragon, Kudu antelope, white oryx, hyena, gorilla, gibbon, lemur, and forest bongo antelope.

Each zone differs stylistically, visually, and, of course, the appropriate composition of nature.

The main features of each zone are the following:

Arabian Village is home to prominent representatives of the Middle East, including camels, Arabian roe deer (oryx), Arabian wolf, and a mountain gazelle.

African Village is a territory where you can watch the most famous and venerable inhabitants of the black continent: lions, giraffes, gorillas, and even giant African elephants.

Asian Village is a place to admire such unique and beautiful creatures as tigers and gibbons, as well as charming Himalayan or white-chested bears, often called Moon bears, with their inimitable “moon collars.”

Explorer Village is perhaps the main attraction, which allows you to ride in specially equipped buses directly among the places of living of the inhabitants of all the above areas and to meet face to face with plenty of adorable creatures.

The park has the following programs, shows, and performances:

  • Feeding giraffes
  • Children’s farm
  • Interactive entertainment for kids
  • Large poultry house
  • “Amazing creatures of our world” show
  • Predatory birds show

In turn, the new eco-complex has replaced the old Dubai zoo, which has hosted guests in the Jumeira area for over 50 years.
