As a modern epicenter of tourism and recreation, Dubai surprises visitors with various attractions, entertainment, and fun. Like everything in the United Arab Emirates, it should be the most glorious, unique, and best of its kind.
However, the fact that this is a bright and unique country spread over the Arabian Gulf suggests the locals' close cultural and historical connection with the water element. In May 2009, this wonderful union of man and the kingdom of Neptune was honored by the public opening of the world’s largest shopping and entertainment center, the Dubai Mall, The Dubai Aquarium, and the Underwater Zoo.
The unique complex immediately fell in love with all spectators and became one of the iconic highlights of the mall and the Emirate. It also plays an essential scientific, research, and recreational role as there are only one and a half hundred species in one aquarium. Some are unique, such as the most extensive collection of sand tiger sharks on the planet or more than three hundred different stingrays and sharks. In total, the complex today is home to thirty-three thousand inhabitants.
For visitors to the mall, only the outdoor panel, open to the public at the Ground and First levels of the central area of Dubai Mall, has a simply hypnotic effect. You can admire this spectacle for hours without taking your eyes off it. It creates a complete feeling of immersion, and you are amazed by the harmony and peace of the beholder. The time simply stops.
It is not surprising since to say that the Aquarium is one of the largest on Earth is to say nothing. Standing in front of a vast blue wall with an unimaginable amount of flora and fauna located in a vast reservoir with ten million liters of water, you lose the power of speech. Only the side panel size is 51 m long (half of the football field) and 11 m high. The width of this masterpiece is 20 m.
But this was not very impressive for the management company Emaar. On August 2, 2017, the top side view was supplemented by an interactive display, which received three achievements, entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ones:
A visit to the forty-eight-meter-long tunnel, located at the very bottom of the complex, will undoubtedly bring unique feelings. The bend at 270˚ opens up a stunning view and allows you to enjoy proximity to deep-sea inhabitants, take genuinely amazing pictures, and get a lot of real emotions.
However, the fun does not end because, among other things, you have the opportunity to ride a boat with a glass and completely transparent bottom on the surface of the tank and enjoy exceptional sensations, tickle the nerves, dive into a cage to the bottom, or try scuba diving accompanied by a professional instructor. You will not remain indifferent.
Underwater Zoo
The zoo is located on the №2 floor directly above the Dubai Aquarium and consists of three parts:
There are more than forty exhibits. You can see the inhabitants of rivers, seas, and oceans among them, as well as many reptiles, birds, mammals, arthropods, and shellfish.
The most impressive is the 5-meter-long sea crocodile weighing more than 750 kg, charming otters, giant spider crabs, cute Peruvian Humboldt penguins, and surreal sea dragons.
But there is also an exposition with representatives of the wild world of the Arabian Desert. These include snakes, hedgehogs, foxes, lizards, scorpions, and insects, which lead a night lifestyle.
At the exit, you can visit a souvenir shop and goods dedicated to this corner of nature in the middle of a modern metropolis. Here, you can buy a beautiful branded postcard or a magnet in memory of the trip.
A great mood and positive emotions are guaranteed. Young visitors will be delighted, but even adults will be full of impressions and vivid memories.
